Eaton Belisle Arraigned for Double Fatality on Phillip Goldson Highway

Eaton Belisle

Eaton Belisle, a Belize City bus driver is identified as the driver of a Mercedes Benz which collided into a Chevy pickup truck which caused the loss of life of two Belize City men. Belisle was arraigned for six traffic offenses this morning in the Belize City Magistrate Court before Magistrate Ladonna John. The charges are for two counts of manslaughter by negligence, two counts of causing death by careless conduct, driving without due care and attention and one count of improper overtaking.  In court, no plea was taken for the four indictable offenses and Belisle pleaded not guilty to the other two charges for driving without due care and attention and improper overtaking which will be dealt with summarily at the lower court. Magistrate John granted him bail in the sum of seven thousand dollars plus two sureties of three thousand five hundred dollars and his case was adjourned for October, 2015. Conditions were, however, set for his bail and Belisle must report to the Ladyville Police Station twice a week on Mondays and Fridays and he cannot leave the country without the permission of the court. Belisle works as a bus driver for Premiers Charters and now he cannot travel across the Mexican border as part of his job. The charges stem from a traffic fatality between miles six and seven on the Phillip Goldson Highway on August fourteenth, 2015 which claimed the lives of Shane Goff and Alden Rudolph Locke.
