Stevedore dies at sea
The death of a thirty-three-year-old Belize City stevedore on Easter Monday is under investigation to determine if it was an accident or the result of foul play. Co-workers found the body of Andrew Betson in the sea near Stake Bank off the coast of Belize City around seven on Monday morning, one hour after his shift ended. Police say Betson reported for work at six on Sunday evening on board one of five sugar barges. His co-workers say they last saw him alive, shortly after six Monday morning. Betson’s body was retrieved from between two barges and taken to the KHMH where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. A post mortem examination is scheduled for sometime this week.
