Firearm Charge Withdrawn…Drug Charge Sticks
A man reported to police that he was robbed at gunpoint, but today in court, he claimed he never told police a gun was used and when he tried to withdraw the charge, the magistrate rejected his request. This morning, Mark Anthony Lopez appeared before Magistrate Ladonna John. Lopez is the brother of now deceased George Street Associate, Kareem Lopez aka “Robbery”. He was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm upon Oliver Sutherland. But before the magistrate could conclude with the arraignment, Sutherland indicated he did not wish to continue with the case because the accused is his relative. But even if robbery charges are dropped, Lopez still has a charge for possession of a controlled drug, for five point three grams of cannabis, police say they found on him when they arrested him for the robbery. He is accused of using a firearm when Sutherland was robbed of a chain.
