Senator Shoman Expects Support from Government Side
Shoman has tried to pass a motion once before, requesting an official Senate special select committee investigation into corruption in the Immigration Department. Thanks to a government majority in the Senate, that never came to pass. But Senator Shoman is hopeful that since this issue isn’t so directly political, the motion may see the light of day.
On the Phone: Lisa Shoman, P.U.P. Senator
“I always hope that…I always expect that things will turn out differently or I wouldn’t keep trying. This is a matter of public importance. It’s not a political issue. It’s not even an issue that any government Senator should shy away from supporting. And so I am expecting that we will do this. Now if you notice I am asking in the motion for these hearings to be help publicly, but if there is some feeling that these are matters that concern our national security and need to be privately, then I will also accept that. But what I am concerned about is that the Senate not sit on its rights, duties and responsibilities and do nothing because this is important.”
