Toledo West Area Rep and Finnegan Trade Shots over B.T.L. Settlement

Oscar Requeña

One more thing on the settlement of B.T.L. At today’s sitting, firebrand area representative for Toledo West, Oscar Requeña also got in some shots at Prime Minister Dean Barrow for the settlement – money which he says could be used in more critical areas, like in the health system, for instance.

Oscar Requeña, Area Rep., Toledo West

“They will come to the House and argue well this is not costing the Belizean people, it is the company. But at the end of the day, if we own the utility company, whatever monies are taken, those are monies that can be put into the education system to ensure that all our children have the relevant text books. That is money that can be put into our health system to make sure that rats are not biting our children in hospitals. Mister Speaker. That is where the money should be going.”

Michael Finnegan

Michael Finnegan, Area Rep., Mesopotamia

“Look weh unu deh glorify ina and like unu happy because unu think that wah give unu wah political advantage over the government. A rat end up ina di thing and bite the lee baby…oh god, we sorry for that. But dah noh Barrow send di rat ina the place gone bite the baby; dah noh Finnegan send the rat in there gone bite the baby. The hospital dah Cayo is run by the public service. Some public officer is in charge of maintaining and keeping the hospital…or maintaining the competence of the hospital…weh noh di do ih job. So weh yow ah do? Yo wah lash Barrow for that? You think dah Barrow actually take the rat and take ahn into the incubator or weh yo call it and drop ahn in deh and tell ahn bite baby, bite baby huh? Yon oh clap bout that; yo noh glorify that.”
