Contract expires for former Cane Farmers’ C.E.O. …
His employment came to an abrupt end on Tuesday when he was handed a letter to that effect. The embattled Carlos Magana, the once powerful C.E.O. of the Cane Farmers Association cried wolf and hinted that politics was behind the decision. Magana says that while his contract had expired at the end of June, he had a gentleman’s agreement that it would have been renewed.
Carlos Magana, Former, C.E.O., Belize Cane Farmers Assn
“I was handed a letter signed by the chairman of the Committee of Management in which he was clearly stating that he as the chairman of the association and concurrent with my contract status as it relates to my employment with the Belize Cane Farmers Association. I tried to get in contact with him because I believe that with the excellent companionship that we had had, I don’t know why he personally didn’t hand me the letter, why he has not responded to my phone calls, trying to find out what carried this to this situation. I have understood from other directors of the association that there was an urgent meeting in Belmopan.”
