Cayo group releases first CD
We’ve heard the term “home grown” before, but it’s usually connected to the country’s agricultural activity. But in this case, the phrase refers to the home grown talents of a group of youths from the Young Gyal area of Teakettle Village who pooled together to cut a compact disc called “Get Hype Belize.” Lead singer for what they call The Sensimina Band, who goes by the name Lepadman, told News 5’s Patrick Jones that the album of six original songs has been in the making for the last twelve months.
Lepadman
?I want Belizean people them fuh get hype bout the situation, the time weh we the live inna right now. You see too much crime, AIDS, lots of thing, check. Just fi get hype mek Belizeans them get conscious about the time we the live inna right now.?
Patrick Jones
?When somebody listens to this CD, what are they going to hear??
Lepadman
?Well they are going to hear lone (only) consciousness. Lover?s tunes and party tunes, party songs so you can dance from it and listen, meditate music, mediate on it.?
Patrick Jones
?As an artist, you have six songs on this CD, but is there any particular one that you would want the people to listen to most??
Lepadman
?Yeah, I will want them to listen number, the track number three ?Got to Leave.?
Patrick Jones
?Tell us about it??
Lepadman
?That was from the heart, from me about a girl, check. About a girl and every time I got to leave, that?s why I call it ?Got to Leave.?
The CD sells for twenty dollars and is available at DJ Tambran music outlet and Venus store in Belmopan.
