Tour Guide Arraigned for Allegedly Assaulting Tourism Police Officer

Louigie Turton

A tour guide is out on bail after being accused of assaulting a tourism police back in July.  Thirty-eight year old Louigie Turton, of the Ladyville area appeared in court this morning and was arraigned for four criminal offenses upon tourism police officer Rupert Leslie. The charges are for Aggravated Assault, Using Indecent and Threatening Words, as well as Common Assault. Turton pleaded not guilty and since there were no objections, he was offered bail of one thousand dollars with conditions.  On his own behalf, Turton told the court that he worked with Leslie at the tourism terminal in Belize City and while they see each other on a regular basis, he will adhere to the conditions of his bail. He is due back in court on November twenty-third, 2015. No reason was given in court why it took so long to levy charges against Turton since the matter occurred in late July, 2015.
