NTUCB President on Senator Ray Davis
The National Trade Union Congress has plenty on its plate to deal with and among the myriad of issues, is the current situation involving Ray Davis. The President NTUCB, Marvin Mora contends that because of the political infiltration that is dividing the unions, they have been unable to move past the removal of Davis as senator. While a number of unions have agreed to move him from the Senate, it is reported that WIN Belize has not. This morning, Mora spoke candidly about the impasse.
Marvin Mora, General Secretary, BEWU
“You have to realize that one he was the past president, two he is a member of the Public Service Union, three works in the Ministry of Finance which is the department that is controlled by the Prime Minister himself and also four he does have people who are in a sense loyal to him., So for me it is not something that I did not expect but they are of their own opinion as well and they have their own ability and I respect that to present any point in any which way they want to view these points. But what I don’t agree with is you turn your opinion to if you don’t do it the way I say or if you don’t do what I say then we have a problem. Democracy doesn’t work that way.”
