Weekend Fire Leaves One Man Homeless
Police are investigating a weekend fire in City. A small house belonging to Arturo Pasos went up in flames on Saturday afternoon. Pasos lived alone in his wooden house off a London Bridge in the Lake Independence area. When Arturo arrived on the scene it was to find the Fire Department putting out the last embers. He had no known enemies and did not have much in terms of valuables. So then, why would his house suddenly burn down on a Saturday afternoon? Over the weekend we spoke to Pasos, who says he was out at work from seven in the morning and got the bad news just before noon.
Arturo Pasos, Fire Victim(Translated)
“I didn’t, I was at work, and they told me. And when I got here, the house had already burned.”
Reporter
“Uh oh! Around what time was this? “
Arturo Pasos
“At around, 11:45, or maybe 11:40”
Reporter
“Now, in terms of light, electricity, and the so on, did the house have electricity? “
Arturo Pasos
“No we didn’t, only water.”
Reporter
“So, do you think, or feel that someone, maybe, could have set the house on fire?”
Arturo Pasos
“No. Who knows how it could have caught fire? Yes. “
Reporter
“Did you leave a lit candle or something which could have started a fire?”
Arturo Pasos
“No I don’t remember that. Nothing.”
Reporter
“How many people lived there?”
Arturo Pasos
“Only Me.”
Reporter
“Only you?”
Arturo Pasos
“Yes.”
Arturo estimates the value of the house and household goods at about five thousand dollars. Pasos is depending on his family to help him get back on his feet, but he is also appealing for assistance from the public. To offer assistance, the number to call is six-two-seven-zero-zero-nine-four.
