Minor Accident Blocks Traffic in the City

Just before four this afternoon, traffic was backed up on the George Price Highway near the Lord Ridge Cemetery. Two vehicles traveling in opposite directions collided head on.  From what we were able to gather from the scene, a Mazda Tribute, heading to the City, crashed into the front driver’s side of a Chevy Tracker Taxi as the driver swerved to prevent hitting a white Ford Escort car that was parked and unoccupied on the left-hand side of the road. The taxi driver, identified as Victorio Herrette, sustained injuries to the head when the airbag deployed. He also complained of chest pains and suffered minor abrasions on his face. While we were unable to confirm the identity of the driver of the Mazda Tribute, it is believed he is suffering from a chronic ailment that might have contributed to the accident.
