Bz. City baby still missing

He has been missing now for more forty-eight hours but tonight family and friends of four year old Oscar Velasquez are still clinging to the hope that the young boy is alive and well. News 5 Patrick Jones has the latest in this disturbing case.

In desperate search for four year old Oscar Velasquez, missing since Monday morning, the toddler?s father, Jorge Velasquez, travelled to various parts of the city handing out…and putting up posters with his son?s picture.

This afternoon, the Velasquez family, joined by residents of the Antelope Street extension area, waded through the murky waters of the surrounding swamp but up to late this evening, the rescuers returned empty handed.

But twenty-four year old Jorge Velasquez is refusing to give up on the hope that his son is alive.

?Since this morning I got some posters to put out and everybody will get together to give a search at two o?clock this afternoon. So far we did all the creeks and we are trying to get to the burial ground now and the London bridges them. And so far we no get no news, nothing yet. But we are still trying.?

?The fact that you are searching the waters surrounding the area, do you believe that your son wandered off and may have fallen in??

Jorge Velasquez
?Maybe he gone with someone else and maybe he dropped or maybe whosoever he was with did not see him or just left him there. I don?t know. So we need to search even though we are not sure if he is there or not there. But we need to check still yet on that.?

?Does this mean then that hope of finding him alive is fading??

Jorge Velasquez
?No, no. Not yet. I still believe that I could find my son alive.?

Patrick Jones
?Do you think that your son is somewhere in Belize City??

Jorge Velasquez
?It could be. If not maybe someone already took him out of the country. Because the last time he was seen with a person and so maybe that persons jus take him out or still have him in Belize.?

Tonight News 5 understands that pending police investigations into how four year old Oscar Velasquez disappeared, the file will be sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for his decision on whether charges will be filed against any of the adults involved in this case.
