Burglars clean out city resident
Imagine going away for ten days only to return home to find that someone had broken into your residence and stolen sixteen thousand dollars worth of household items. Well that’s exactly what happened to Glenstine Martinez of Central American Boulevard in Belize City. Martinez says he has been working hard on his dream house and has been furnishing the residence with items he has been bringing from the United States. But much to his dismay upon returning last Friday he found the back door open and a number of expensive appliances were gone. Martinez says he suspects it is someone who is familiar with the building because they knew exactly what tool to bring to get into the house. Today he not only told his story to News 5 but is also offering a reward to anyone who can assist the police in finding the burglar and hopefully the stolen goods.
Glenstine Martinez, Victim, Burglary
?Friday when I got in here I came and I saw the door opened and we noticed that the place was burglarised. What they did was that they came and wrenched open the burglar bar. They pried the door open and broke the lock. When I went inside I saw all that stuff was missing.?
?I recently got all these stuff from the states when I went over there and bought them in November. I went up there to get two vehicles and I came in on Friday but as I got here my neighbour told me that they heard the dogs barking very loud and that someone hit the dog and the dog was crying after that. When I came in that?s when I noticed all the stuff gone.?

?What was missing??
Glenstine Martinez
?Well, I am missing two microwave, a micro-hood, two sound systems. One is worth over three thousand five hundred dollars. The other one is about two thousand five hundred dollars. I lost a twenty-seven inch Magnavox TV, a small nineteen inch vacuum cleaner from the back house. I also lost a microwave and another television as well.?
Jacqueline Woods
?It sounds like they were in here for a while.?
Glenstine Martinez
?Yes, they were. The person who was in here I think they were very comfortable when they were in here. I also lost over three thousand eight hundred dollars in all the windows in the upstairs. The person who was in here had to be somebody who knows the house. This person had to bring a ratchet to loose the bolts. Any thief would not travel with a socket set or a ratchet. These people were very professional and they knew exactly what they were doing and what they were looking for.?
Jacqueline Woods
?So you are saying that a reward is being offered??
Glenstine Martinez
?Yes, right now we have a nice big reward for anybody who have any information to the conviction of these people who broke in the house.?
Martinez says the police have been to the residence but so far no one has been arrested. If you have any information that can help solve this crime please call Crimestoppers at 922 or Martinez at 227-0971 or 600-6344.
