Sixteen-year-old Minor Shot in Roaring Creek
A teenager was injured during one of two shooting incidents that occurred in other parts of the country over the long weekend. The sixteen-year-old came under gunfire in Roaring Creek Village on Saturday evening. When police visited the cemetery near West Star Gas Station they observed the minor suffering from injuries to the right hip. Initial investigation revealed that sometime around six-twenty p.m., as many as five gunshots were reported in the immediate vicinity. So far, one person has been detained pending charges. In another incident on Monday night, police visited Santa Maria Street in the Halls Layout in Corozal Town where they saw a blue Volkswagen Jetta with apparent bullet holes. On the scene, police also observed a white freight truck with its rear glass shattered, along with several bullet holes on the container. According to police, sometime shortly before eleven-thirty, two men riding on a bicycle reportedly opened fire on the vehicles causing the damages.
