Belize sends almost $50,000 for Tsunami relief
The Belize Red Cross reports that to date it has contributed almost fifty thousand dollars to the Asian Tsunami Relief Appeal and that the donations are still coming in. The Red Cross says the Belizean public has “displayed remarkable generosity” in coming forward to assist those affected by the disaster which has claimed two hundred and seventy-six thousand lives and left one point six million displaced and another million homeless. The funds sent to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies was collected since January third. The Belize Red Cross says they will issue another update at the end of the month.
