Corozal dentist injured in home invasion
A brutal attack on a prominent member of the Corozal community has left residents shocked, and police hot on the trail of the attacker. Doctor Glanda Major, a dentist practicing at the Corozal Hospital, was badly beaten and left unconscious in her home in the South End area of Corozal Town on Monday afternoon after she came home for lunch and walked in on an intruder. Dr. Major suffered injuries to her head, right ear and right arm. When she did not return to work on Monday afternoon, a concerned co-worker went to investigate and made the startling discovery. Dr. Major is listed in serious but stable condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. According to officer in charge of Corozal police, David Henderson, so far they have determined that four hundred and fifty U.S. dollars in cash and a cell phone were taken from Dr. Major’s home. Three people are currently in police custody and are being questioned in connection with the incident.
