Driver charged in cyclist?s death
A San Pedro taximan has been arrested and charged with several traffic offences after an accident on the island almost a week ago has now claimed the life of a bicyclist. Twenty-one year old Oscar Casanova sustained severe head and body injuries when he was knocked off his bike on Thursday night. The driver of the vehicle, twenty-six year old Christian Medrano, told police that he was on Makina Drive when Casanova rode in front of him. Casanova was first taken to the San Pedro clinic and later transferred to the KHMH where he died on Monday. Medrano has been charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving without due care and attention.
