First Ever Digital Marketing Summit Held in Belize City
A digital marketing summit, the first of its kind to be held in Belize, was hosted by the Belize Tourism Board today at the Ramada Belize City Princess. The objective is to build capacity within tourism stakeholders. Currently, the B.T.B. does very aggressive social media and digital marketing campaigns and this event provides hoteliers and local businesses to understand trends on positive Belizean experiences. A total of nine international presenters were featured in the summit and Digital Marketing Manager, Mynor Larrieu, told News Five about the various aspects of the event.

“The summit is sectioned off in four different segments—social media in 2015…new trends and tips. We have three great panelists that will presenting on just that topic. We also have a digital branding strategist who will be talking about how you take care of your brand online…very important. So he is going to inspire to do new things. We are saving him for last. And the two early morning sessions were about digital content strategy. Believe it or not, we don’t know how to put together our digital marketing strategy. It is very simple. A lot of times we do ad hoc things that are not cohesive and you have to take the time. Even though it is free, you have to take the time to sit down and draft that strategy to know what story you are selling, to sell that Belize unique story to get people to come to Belize. It’s hotel owners, tour operators; that was our main focus. However, we noticed earlier on when people started RSVPing that it was mostly hotels. So we started sending invitations to smaller properties because we also need smaller and medium size prosperities to do more for themselves so that we can all do more for Belize and have a larger online presence.”
