P.U.P. Supporters Suspect Immigration Irregularity…Demand Answers

Multiple sources have told News Five that the owner of the bag has been confirmed as a former U.D.P. councillor candidate whose passport was allegedly also found inside the bag. Today a politically charged crowd gathered outside the Police Station, and candidate Michael Chebat told News Five that what the police have in their hands is enough for them to bring in that man for questioning.

“We’ve come out here and we are demanding that the police bring in the owner of the knapsack that was found with the passports. We are demanding that he be brought in for questioning. I was not there when it was found. I was called in after it was found, but I was there when the police came and opened the contents of the knapsack, which I saw personally. It was found at Studio Seven on Burns Avenue. The owner of the knapsack was not there. Apparently, the owner of the knapsack was there earlier and had forgot the knapsack. We want the police to take up the investigation seriously. We were here earlier. We came and spoke to the officer in charge and we asked him if he was not going to bring in the owner of the knapsack to question; why he was in possession of those documents and so forth, and he told us that he had to wait for instructions from Belmopan. I mean, you know they pick up people for less things. On the face of it, there is sufficient to see that a crime may have been committed.”

Late this evening, we were informed that the crowd is planning a protest outside the San Ignacio Police Station on Wednesday. We were also informed that Police have refused to issue a permit for that protest.
