Belize City Man Busted By Surveillance Camera

Twenty-six year old Michael Cowo is in prison tonight after pleading guilty to stealing a computer and accessories from a parked car. But unknown to him, Cowo was caught in the act by surveillance camera as he stole the computer bag containing a Dell laptop, a tablet and other items from a Nissan car belonging to former Family Court Executive Director, Margaret Nicholas.  This morning, Cowo was unrepresented when he appeared before the Chief Magistrate, Anne Smith. It came to the court’s attention that Cowo has a long rap sheet for several offenses of dishonesty and although he begged the court to impose a fine instead of jail time, saying he has three children and that he was intoxicated when he broke into car, he did not sway the Chief Magistrate. And so he was handed a six-month sentence. Nicholas’s car was broken into on Monday when it was parked at the corner of Casaurina and Vernon Streets.
