Man found murdered in St. Matthews

Details remain elusive tonight but investigators in the Cayo district are tonight processing a murder scene in St. Matthews Village. According to police, around one this afternoon, the body of sixty-eight year old Wilford Requena was found wrapped in a tarpaulin in the downstairs flat of his home. News Five understands that Requena was working as a live-in caretaker on the small farm and had been seen by his boss, Rodney Bowen, on Tuesday evening alive and well. Initial findings reveal that Requena was hit in the head with a blunt object. His body was taken to the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police sources say the house was found ransacked but at newstime, we could not confirm whether anything was stolen.
