Waste material, says Willoughby, is being dealt with promptly by all related agencies, including the Solid Waste Management Authority.

“There will be a three-day window opportunity for residents to put out all waste material or debris. As you know, the Ministry of Human Services will be issuing relief and supplies and other agencies will be doing other distribution. So once these distributions are underway, we know that residents will be putting out old board, old mattresses and so forth as new materials will be issued across the city. So we are looking at this three-day window period to have residents put out all debris, waste material, garbage out on the street side as the Belize City Council will be taking on the responsibility of these additional collection. Again this is just to compliment the additional assets that the council has on the ground at this time as well as the Belize Waste Control Limited who does residential collections. So this will be a comprehensive thorough clean up that will be executed by the Belize City Council and there will be follow ups by the environmental committee over the upcoming days to ensure that all the assets are performing and that collections are done in an effective and efficient manner.”
