Shoman will lead weekend talks with Guatemala
He may be tied up all this week trying to negotiate a settlement in the dispute between Government and the unions but that doesn’t mean GOB negotiator and Minister of National Development Assad Shoman will have a restful weekend. In fact he’ll be heading to Miami, this time for negotiations with Guatemala. According to a government press release, the OAS sponsored talks will be a low key affair with no set agenda to explore a way forward toward settlement of the Guatemalan claim to Belize. Shoman will be accompanied by his niece, Ambassador Lisa Shoman, and former Minister of Foreign Trade Eamon Courtenay.
