San Pedro Cabdriver Shot in Broad Day

There was a brazen daylight shooting in San Pedro this afternoon, and it happened right next to the very crowded airstrip. Thirty-one year old taxi-man Juan Menjivar was allegedly at the Maya Island Air luggage section when as many as five shots rang out. Unconfirmed reports are that Menjivar was hit three times to the arms and abdomen, but he managed to make his way to the San Pedro Polyclinic. The shooter allegedly fled the scene and jumped on a jet-ski waiting in the lagoon. Menjivar has been transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment while Police scour the island looking for the gunman. The victim is no stranger to the law. He was arrested and charged in 2014 for drug trafficking and for uncustomed goods after his San Pedrito home was searched. He was also charged for discharging his firearm in public.
