Police Constable Remanded for Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with Minor

A police officer assigned to the Orange Walk formation is tonight on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being charged for unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.  Thirty-one-year-old Police Constable Hector Esquivel appeared in court this afternoon before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer, where he was read a single count.  It is alleged that on November first, PC Esquivel engaged in a sexual act with a fourteen-year-old girl.  In court today, Esquivel was represented by Senior Counsel Richard ‘Dickie’ Bradley.  No plea was taken since the matter is an indictable offense.  Due to the nature of the offense, Esquivel was also denied bail.  Esquivel, a resident of Belize City, has been remanded until December eighteenth.
