Popular Belize City Tailor Charged for Sexual Assault of Minor
There is another investigation ongoing by the Crime Investigation Branch in which a well-known Belize City tailor is at the center of a sexual assault allegation. A fourteen year old is claiming that on more than one occasion, sixty-six year old Felipe Santiago Montejo touched her inappropriately. Today in court, Montejo was arraigned on a charge of sexual assault but he pleaded not guilty. Allegations are that sometime between August first and August thirty-first, 2015, he sexually abused the minor. On the matter of bail, there were no objections, but conditions were set that he must report to the police station and keep away from the minor and her family. This evening, Montejo met bail and is due back in court on January eleventh, 2016. The child claims that in August, she went to Montejo’s shop to get help for her homework and that he unbuttoned her school uniform and touched her on her private parts. She also claims that the incidents go back to 2013 when he would touch her inappropriately and give her money for school. And while her family did not know of the abuse, she told police that her mother was receiving money from Montejo to help her in school.
