Arrests made in two robberies
Belize City police have arrested three men from Belize City in connection with a robbery over the weekend at Universal Health Services. Police investigations now reveal that they believe it was an inside job and one of the men charged, twenty-year-old Kelvin Meighan, was working at UHS as a messenger. Authorities suspect that Meighan gave the two robbers vital information in order to commit the jacking. As a result, Meighan has been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery alongside nineteen-year-old Ernie Fermin and twenty-one year old Raphael Caceres who have been additionally charged with robbery and dangerous harm. The trio appeared in Belize City Magistrate’s Court today. Caceres and Fermin, who were not offered bail, have been remanded to Hattieville Prison. Meighan was offered bail in the sum of ten thousand dollars which he was unable to meet and has been remanded as well.
Meanwhile, in another case of robbery, cops have arrested a Belize City resident in connection with an incident last Friday. According to the authorities, twenty-one year old Ricky Valencio is one of two men who walked up to three fruit and vegetable vendors and at gunpoint, robbed them of the day’s sales.
