8 Men Charged for Drunken Brawl at Belize City Bar

A group of eight men appeared in court this morning following a recent brawl at La Catracha Bar on Coney Drive in Belize City.  They are facing charges of disorderly conduct and damaged to property.  This morning before Magistrate Carlos Mendoza: Angel Arias, Carlos Gutierrez, Olvin Reyes, Ronald Gutierrez, Victor Martinez, Luis Carballo and William Hernandez, were all charged in connection with the bar brawl and pleaded not guilty to Disorderly Conduct.  The men were additionally charged with Damage to Property in respect of an assortment of liquor and other items that were damaged.  Carballo and Carlos Gutierrez were further charged with another count of damage but only Hernandez, Carlos Gutierrez and Salazar were able to post bail. According to one of the accused men, a fight erupted between two groups of friends over Carballo’s ex-girlfriend. Some were injured and all were charged.
