KTV returns with original host
You could call it a bit of shameless self promotion masquerading as journalism…but we prefer to call it entertainment news. After a two year break, Channel 5 is pleased to announce the return of the popular television show KTV. The one-hour season opener kicks off at nine tonight at a new venue: the outdoor Palm Court of the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts. But the location is not the only attraction. Back by popular demand after a couple of years on study leave, host William Neal says he is looking forward to what he considers to be thirteen weeks of fun and entertainment.
William Neal, Host, KTV
?I feel very enthusiastic about tonight because I have met a number of people on the streets and they are excited for me to come back. I think the year in hiatus has worked much to build the suspense surrounding the show. Of course, I wasn?t here for two years to do it and I do have a fan base who looks forward to me doing it. I am happy about that and I?m going to try and deliver. Now the pressure is on my side.?
Jacqueline Woods
?I know, especially to keep the crowd entertained. Let us in a bit of exactly what you have planned.?
William Neal
?Well I don?t have much planned in terms of coming to the show. My thing is to interact with people and to accept people as individuals and to let all of it come from the interaction with the contestants and audience itself. Because I think that?s the beauty about the show in itself; that you?re getting to know people. I?m a people person so I?m more interested in the people and the personalities behind what we assume. So that?s definitely the thing for me. I don?t come with a plan and I just plan to have fun.?
Jacqueline Woods
?What is so attractive about KTV??
William Neal
?I think the fact is to see the many layers of people being peeled away. It?s fun to see somebody who normally might from nine to five on a regular basis have a job where they are very straight-laced and to come and see them perform Karaoke, we see another side of them. I think that?s the thrill and it?s good, clean fun. People can?t get away from that. It?s just something where it?s like Clark Kent and Superman. Once you put somebody in front of a mic you never know what kind of a personality you?ll open up.?
?One of the reasons as director of ICA and we?re housed at the Bliss I thought that one of the best things for us to do is actually bring it to the Bliss because this would be a central spot for all kinds of entertainment and I think this open space here in the back of the Bliss is perfect for that. The Pal Court is perfect. So people can come, they can enter through the back. It?s very easy access through the parking lot in front of Brodies and BTL and I think it?s going to be a wonderful location. It?s elevated, you have a wonderful view of the City. It?s going to be fun and I think We?re every happy to have everybody come to the Bliss and get a peak at what the Bliss has to offer as well.?
Again, entrance to the Palm Court at the Bliss is through the back gate off the Regent Street parking lot. If you can’t make it out to the Bliss in person, you can tune in live at nine…right here on Channel 5.
