Herman Ramsey and Clive Arnold Injured in Weekend Shootings

Two shootings on Sunday occurred within minutes of each other in Belize City on the heels of the attempt on the life of Kenneth Flowers, aka Big Tom. Just after six a.m., twenty-seven year old Herman Ramsey and thirty-five year old Clive Arnold were shot close to their homes on Fabers Road by a friend with whom they were conversing earlier. Ramsey, a fisherman of Fabers Road was hit once to the left arm; the bullet pierced through his chest and was surgically removed today at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Arnold, a stevedore of Rivero Street, on the other hand was hit to the right thigh and remains hospitalized in a stable condition. Regional Commander for Eastern Division South, Senior Superintendent Chester Williams says that they are looking for one Trevor Guy, who is a cousin of one of the victims and they believe it was motivated by jealousy.

Sr. Supt. Chester Williams, Regional Commander, Eastern Division South

“That incident took place sometime after six Sunday morning. Mister Ramsey and Mister Arnold were in the company of another male person and apparently there was a dispute between the trio and that dispute resulted in one of them, Trevor Guy, who actually took out a firearm and fired the shots at both persons. They received varying degrees of injuries and are currently admitted at the hospital in a stable condition. We are currently pursuing Mister Guy and I will say that the incident is not gang related. These people are friends, they are family members and when things like that occur it is not things that the police can do anything to prevent because we could never know what is brewing between people who are friends or who are families. But the matter as I said is being investigated by the police at this time.”

“Are any of the victims pressing charges against the relative, Mister Guy?”

Sr. Supt. Chester Williams

“Well that will be a matter for them to decide. We have obtained statements from one of the victims and based on that statement, when Mister Guy is apprehended; he will be charged and taken before the court for attempted murder. If later on they chose to do otherwise that will be between them and the court. But we will be pressing forward with the charges.”
