Jaron Baptist Charged for Attempted Murder of Liston Myers
The city saw a decrease in violent crime in September and October and according to Senior Superintendent Chester Williams, the Regional Commander, Eastern Division South, murders are down. But on Sunday, gunmen targeted three men walking on Antelope Street extension. One of the men was hit, but according to police, the intended target was missed. Today, two days after the early morning shooting, a teenager who is employed as a bus conductor was arraigned. He is eighteen year old Jaron Baptist who appeared before Senior Magistrate, Sharon Fraser and was arraigned for attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm upon Liston Myers. He was denied bail and remanded to the Belize Central Prison until January twenty-sixth, 2015. On Sunday morning, police say they responded to a shooting incident on Antelope Street Extension where Myers was shot and injured by two men. Myers is listed in stable condition at the K.H.M.H. as police look for another suspect.
