Malique Martinez is Charged for Burglary
A Belize City man was caught in the act on Monday as he exited an opening at a building of a collection agency in the south side of the City. The suspect, thirty two year old Malique Martinez was quickly nabbed and handed over to police. He was charged with burglary with intent to steal inside the Atlantic Bank Collection Agency located at the corner of Magazine and Cemetery Roads. This evening he was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser. Police say he also carved the opening to get into the building causing damages to desks, a window, an ATM safe and doors to the value of ten thousand seven hundred dollars. In court, Martinez pleaded not guilty to the charge saying it wasn’t him. Police further allege that after being tipped of the robbery in progress, they headed to the crime and met several officers and a KBH Security Guard. There they spotted Martinez exiting the opening. While there was no objection to bail, Fraser denied bail and remanded him to the Belize Central Prison. He is due back in court on January 2016.
