“B.E.L. as a company is committed to giving back to the society on a whole. This is one of our many outreach programs that we have. We’ve been doing it for three years and it is an annual project where we work with Hand in Hand Ministries in selecting a deserving recipient that needs a home. And within the company departments then head that venture to coordinate all that is necessary to get the home built in three to four days.”

“Okay, so how did you all come across this case and decided that you were going to get involved and support?”
“Hand in Hand Ministry sends you, once we’ve obviously told them the timeline that we’re working when they send us the list of recipients that they have approved because these are recipients that are approved by Hand in Hand Ministry. We then do our screening within B.E.L. and from there make a selection as to who we would choose to be that recipient.”

“What was the experience like helping to get to this stage, this final end stage?”
“It’s a lot of work, I can tell you that. Physical, logistics, administrative. Outside of that the actual experience of being involved here to assist Angela in building her home has been a very humbling one. It opens the eyes for myself and all the employees to see how we can assist other people across the board which is one of the fundamental commitments of the company, how we can give back. How, as employees, we can give back and as a company. So it ties in quite seamlessly with what we want to achieve as a company. It surely has been a humbling experience. Angela has worked tirelessly, I have to say she has been shoulder to shoulder with us from Friday through until Monday when we wrapped up everything. So that in itself also gives a great sense of satisfaction that we have chosen the right recipient because she has put in her pound of flesh during those days.”

“Do you all have any estimates as to what the value of this house is and how much it costs?”
Celina Gill
“Actually we’re removed from that. We just select and we drive it from that. But at the end of the day giving back to society, you can’t put a price on that.”
B.E.L. will also be providing food hampers to deserving persons in communities countrywide during the month of December.
