Alleged baby killer remanded to youth hostel
In an update to a story we ran on Thursday night’s newscast, today twenty one year old Maria Concepcion Tiul and her thirteen-year-old brother appeared in Orange Walk Magistrate’s Court following charges brought against them in connection with the death of Tiul’s three-year-old son Axcel Castillo. The minor, who was charged with murder, was remanded to the youth hostel facility at mile twenty-one on the Western Highway until February fifteenth when he is scheduled to reappear in court. The mother of the deceased, charged with child neglect, was offered bail in the amount of two thousand five hundred dollars, which she met. Police say young Castillo was left in the care of his teenaged uncle after his mother went out to socialize with friends. It is not clear what transpired at the house during the night, but Castillo was hit hard in his stomach by the thirteen-year-old boy. The mother of the child did not seek medical attention until two days later. A post mortem has revealed that the child choked to death on his own blood.
