13 year old charged with murder in baby’s death

A thirteen year old boy has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of his three year old nephew. According to Orange Walk police, the baby’s mother, twenty-one year old Maria Concepcion Tiul, had gone out on a night of socializing with her friends and left the toddler, three year old Axcel Castillo, in the care of his teenage uncle. Police investigations now reveal that sometime during the night, Axcel was hit hard in his midsection by his babysitter. News 5 understands that Tiul was informed of the incident but for two days chose not to seek medical attention for the baby. When Tiul finally showed up at the Northern Regional Hospital, it was too late. A post mortem has since revealed that baby Axcel choked to death on his own blood. In addition to the teenager being charged with murder, his sister and mother of the deceased, Maria Tiul, has also been charged with child neglect. The pair will appear in Orange Walk Magistrate’s Court tomorrow. Until then, both remain in police custody.
