Baby’s death looks suspicious

Tonight disturbing details continue to emerge as Orange Walk police investigate the death of a three year old boy earlier this month. Initial reports by the child’s mother, twenty-one year old Maria Concepcion Teul, were that the child, Axcel Castillo, had a fever and when it didn’t go down after two days, she took him to the Northern Regional Hospital for treatment. But hospital officials became suspicious after several bruises were found on the child’s face and both feet. When questioned, the mother claimed the child had fallen down as a result of his fever. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, within hours of arriving at the hospital, the child passed away. Today a post mortem revealed that he died from bronchial aspiration asphyxia due to internal bleeding as a consequence of abdominal trauma. In other words, little Axcel was injured so badly to his mid-section that he choked on his own blood. Up to newstime, relatives of the child were still being questioned. If you have any information that might assist the authorities in their investigation, please contact 922 or the nearest police station.
