Freezone task force is appointed

Several weeks ago we ran a story on the Corozal Free Zone which explained that, due to a number of factors, business was significantly down. This week the Ministry of Investment has announced the appointment of a special task force to find ways to reverse that decline. The six members: Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Mike Espat, Florencio Marin Jr., Arturo Lizarraga, Winston Smiling, Dr. Cardo Martinez and Luke Espat, met on Wednesday. According to a press release the group held talks with Mexican officials and also discussed ways to facilitate easier and cheaper currency exchange. Next Wednesday the task force will meet with a wider selection of business owners in Corozal. Those interested in participating should call the secretariat at 600-2825.
