Another police top 10 most wanted captured
While the criminals in the weekend’s four murders are still on the loose, the long arms of the law have caught up with a suspect in a murder that occurred on the evening of February twenty-sixth. Back then a fist fight between two teens ended fatal when sixteen year old Daniel Soto was killed while sitting with friends in front of a house on Mangal Street in Orange Walk Town. The minor was allegedly attacked by nineteen year old Eric Gonzalez, who was reportedly inebriated and was clutching a five-inch blade knife. Gonzalez was detained and was charged in connection with several other offences in the municipality. But he escaped from the Orange Walk courthouse and had been on the run. But Gonzalez’ luck ran out when on the weekend he was captured in a village across the Mexican border.
Cpl Jeffrey Williams, O.C., C.I.B., O.W.
“Eric Gonzalez was captured on the Mexican side. Weekend we went there but their system is different from us so we need to make further contact with them to have him over here.”
Marion Ali
“What kind of evidence do you have against this man? He is wanted for murder but is the evidence against him strong?”
Cpl Jeffrey Williams
“We have strong evidence against him, eyewitness evidence.”
Marion Ali
“Do you think that taking that charge of murder to court, being that he was stabbed in the leg, that that will hold?”
Cpl Jeffrey Williams
“We will left that for the court to decide.”
Gonzalez was apprehended when Mexican police were called to break up a fight in El Ingenio Village near Botes. Gonzalez was reportedly in the group. He will be brought back in Belize as soon as Mexican police have concluded their investigations on the fight in which he was allegedly involved.
