Rayford Sanchez is not the only Belizean accused of sexually abusing a minor. Today police have arrested twenty-six year old Sheldon Baptist of Burrel Boom following an incident on Tuesday night in which a fifteen-year-old female from the village claims she was forcibly raped. The young woman told police that she was home alone and heard a noise outside. When she went out to investigate, she was grabbed from behind and choked. Her attacker then hit her in the head with a blunt object and she lost consciousness. When she came to she was in a remote area and reports that when she began to scream she was punched in the mouth. At that point, she was forced to have sex and then threatened with death if she told anyone. Baptist has been charged by police with rape, abduction, threat of death and assault. He is slated to appear in Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
