Accused child rapist goes to court…

Today the public got to put a human face on a crime that has outraged the nation. Accused child rapist Rayford Sanchez was brought to Magistrate’s Court this afternoon where he was charged with committing an unnatural crime, carnal knowledge and indecent assault. The twenty-eight year old was denied bail and remanded to Hattieville prison and will reappear in Magistrate’s Court on February eleventh. The charges arise out of a report that Sanchez, while left alone on Sunday with his five year old common-law stepdaughter, raped and sodomized the child. Information reaching News 5 indicates that the girl was not only abused by Sanchez on other occasions, but she had also been sexually assaulted by another member of her extended family prior to reaching her second birthday. That incident was reported to police but the perpetrator was not prosecuted due to lack of corroborating evidence. In case viewers are wondering how Sanchez’s face became swollen, we are informed that while in custody at the Queen Street Police Station, he was beaten by several cellmates.
