San Pedro Police Nab Perp after Assault of Elderly Woman
Three weeks ago a particularly vicious assault caught the attention of the nation. A seventy year old woman told San Pedro Police that as she walked home she was followed by a man on a bicycle and brutally beaten. That man has been at large, but tonight police believe that they have him in custody following a similar attack. Sometime around ten Wednesday night officers on patrol caught a Hispanic male in the act of assaulting a young woman as she walked with her child in the Escalante Area. The man threw the child into the bushes and commenced beating and scratching the woman while she fought to get free. We cannot reveal his name at this time because he has not been charged, but he is a Salvadoran who resides on the island. This latest attack happened just three blocks from where the elderly woman was beaten. Police are currently setting up an identification parade, after which they hope to lay charges for both incidents.
