Tourist fights mugger with cigarette

Police are also asking your help to catch another criminal…but this one shouldn’t be hard to find as he sports two cigarette burns on his left cheek. According to police, the unidentified young man tried to jack a tourist Monday afternoon as she walked down Bishop Street near downtown. Lynda VanOmmeren told investigators that she was approached by a guy on a bicycle who pulled out a knife and demanded money. Her reply consisted two quick jabs with her lit cigarette that sent the would be assailant riding off in pain. According to VanOmmeren, a local good Samaritan also came to her aid during the incident. The public is asked to be on the lookout for anyone with a freshly applied bandage on his left cheek. Please note that “I cut myself shaving” is not an acceptable explanation.
