3 Men Wounded in Separate City Shootings
There was also a string of shootings in the Old Capital over the weekend. The unrelated incidents began on Friday evening shortly after five o’clock when twenty-four-year-old Kyle Chaplin came under gunfire while inside a vehicle on Cran Street. It is reported that he was in the company of a pair of men when an unknown assailant emerged from the rear of a parked van and opened fire. During the armed assault Chaplin was shot in the left knee. Meanwhile, in the early hours of Saturday, a Belize City fisherman was shot to the right side of the chest and right arm. Forty-seven-year-old David Lamb, a resident of Ebony Street told police that he was sleeping inside his bedroom when someone let loose a barrage of shots from outside of the apartment. The shots penetrated the wooden window and found their mark on various parts of his body. Lamb is listed in critical condition at the KHMH. Several hours later, gunshots rang out for a second time that day. This time police responded to Mike’s Club on Regent Street West where they observed twenty-five-year-old Brandon Allen suffering from a gunshot wound. According to Allen, he was socializing at the establishment when he got into a misunderstanding with someone he knows only as Jeffrey. He then left the bar and was walking along Water Lane when upon reaching its intersection with East Canal; a salvo of rounds was fired at him causing his injuries. He is also listed in critical condition at the K.H.M.H. Police investigations continue.
