San Pedro Deliveryman Charged for Rape

There were other serious crimes committed over the weekend. In San Pedro Ambergris Caye, police have arrested a deliveryman after he allegedly took a woman to a remote area of the island on his motorcycle and raped her on Friday. The thirty-four year old victim was allegedly looking for employment when twenty-three year old Arlen Mai offered her a ride on his red cycle. According to the woman, the Good Samaritan turned into her worst nightmare. Deputy Officer Commanding Coastal Executive Office, Inspector Henry Jemott explains.

“We had the report on the twelfth of December 2015 where a thirty-four year old female of San Pedro town reported that she was raped up the northern coast of San Pedro Town. As a result police have detained one Arlen Mai, twenty-three year old delivery man of San Pedro town. We have conducted an identification parade on the said male persons where he was positively identified as the person that raped the thirty-four year old female.”

Mai has also been positively identified through an ID parade conducted late this afternoon.
