Patrick Jones Reporting
Tonight forty-five year old Hugo Silva lies critically injured at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, the victim of a brutal attack over the Christmas holiday that has left his wife and three children with many questions. Silva was found behind the Central Bank building on Marine Parade badly beaten and unconscious. According to his nephew Luis Silva, Hugo left home on Christmas Day but it wasn?t until Boxing Day that they got the bad news.

Luis Silva, Nephew
?He came here to our house early in the morning and he left about two o?clock the afternoon. Then afterward we did not hear anything more. Then about three o?clock the morning, that?s the Sunday, police came to my aunt?s house and said that they found his car by Coral Grove.?

The car was found abandoned in this ditch at the end of University Heights Boulevard across town from where Silva was found. The key was in the ignition and nothing was stolen from the vehicle. Most of the victim?s belongings, except his wallet was, found on his person.

Luis Silva
?Then my parents got an idea to go to the police station and Karl Heusner to check and when we went to Karl Heusner we found him there badly beaten up.?

Patrick Jones
?When your uncle left here, where was he going??

Luis Silva
?He said he was going to Ladyville. That?s all we know.?

It was a mobile patrol in the area of Central Bank that made the disturbing discovery early Sunday morning. The family and police are asking for the public?s assistance in solving the mystery of who may have attacked Silva, and why. Patrick Jones for News 5.

Silva remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition. News 5 understands that he is suffering from a fractured skull and has been in and out of consciousness. Anyone with information that may help in solving this crime is asked to call the Crimestoppers hotline at 922.
