Mother Analiz Gutierrez Remains Hopeful That She Will Retain Custody

Analiz Gutierrez

Analiz Gutierrez was in court and clearly distraught that the matter could not have been resolved in today’s hearing. She told News Five that she is disappointed that her daughter will not be home for Christmas, but has faith that the court will allow baby Nina to remain with her in Belize.

Analiz Gutierrez, Mother of Nina

“I had intentions of being able to have my daughter today, so I am definitely disappointed, but I have faith that God has control and that on the seventh of January it will be closed and I will have my daughter back. My daughter is not currently in my custody, meaning that she does not stay with me at home. However I have been granted permission by the Department to be able to visit her for two hours, three hours every day. I know that she is well taken care of. She is with family members so I know she is being loved and I know all her needs are being met. Upon me arriving there she is happy, she tells me about her day. The hard part is when it comes to leaving her. She doesn’t understand why she cannot come with me.”

“I know at the beginning, there was some contention between the family and the Department of Human Services. Are you satisfied now that they are doing whatever it takes in the best interest of the child and the family?”

Analiz Gutierrez

“Definitely! I understand that there are certain procedures that need to be met. Both the Court and the Department are doing what they need to do in order to be able to assure the safety and the placement of my daughter since the father is claiming…has invoked the Hague Convention claiming that I kidnapped her. So I understand and I am satisfied with the procedures that the Court and the Department are making. I would have liked it to be a little bit faster, sooner, because every time my daughter is away from me it affects her. But at this point I can only have faith that in January it won’t be delayed any longer and it will be settled at that point.”
