House Collapses on Neal’s Pen Road, Man and His Girlfriend Need Your Help
A Belize City resident and his girlfriend are in dire straits tonight after their home on Neal’s Pen Road collapsed on Thursday morning. Travis Myvette was at work when he received a phone call that the elevated wooden structure had crumpled into the swamp water below. When he arrived on the scene he observed that the structure had fallen down with his girlfriend inside. Fortunately, the young woman escaped serious injury. While that may be so, Myvette is down and out and is seeking public assistance to get back on his feet.

“The house was giving way on me. It is really hard for a one man like me to try fix up and thing the way I do it. I woudla really appreciate anybody weh could help me out ina any way how they could. Right now I di push it and I noh really know how I wah make it through this holiday. Right now dah Christmas time and I really noh like the condition weh my house fell on me. My gial mi deh ina di house then. By the time I reach out to go dah work like quarter past four, I get wah lee house from my girl that tell me that my house drop. It hurt me when I feel that that dah weh happen to me. A call come in and she tell me come quick and when I come home, I see weh happen. And she get wah lee hurt when she di come out when the house di collapse. But thank God she neva get that bad hurt. I wah pray to God that something happen fi me. I try reach out to she but I get wah answering machine and thing too. But I mi reach out to she but far more Miss Dianne and thing. The lady dah wah nice lady to me like a mother, you know. I woulda really appreciate if anybody out there wah help me too same way so that I can get back up and stand firm back, you know.”
