A Belize City Man is Stabbed to Death on Amara Avenue

Forty-five-year-old Lindbert Brown lost his life this morning, following a predawn assault during which he was stabbed multiple times inside a residence on Amara Avenue in Belize City.  It is reported that Brown attacked a woman with a piece of broken bottle when the object was wrestled from him and used to injure him fatally.  According to police, the trio shares a history of mental problems.  It is not known at this time what prompted Brown to accost the woman, however, when police responded to the incident the victim had already been transported to the K.H.M.H.  He would later succumb to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Regional Commander and Senior Superintendent Chester Williams explains.

“In the early morning hours of today, police received information of a stabbing incident somewhere in the Amara Avenue area and they subsequently visited KHMH where they saw one Lindbert Brown suffering from a stab wound to the head and neck.  He was being treated at that particular moment by medical practitioners but he later succumbed to those injuries that he had suffered.  Our initial information is that there was some sort of altercation in a house which is at this moment reported as a burglary being committed by the deceased person.  And the residents in that home were the ones who inflicted the stab wounds to this person which eventually cost him his life.”

“Well from what we are gathering as a part of our investigation is that the three persons who are involved have some mental disability.  It’s a case seemingly involving some mental patients and I must say that we are not treating it at this time as a murder but rather as probably a manslaughter but what we will be doing, we’ll prepare the file and we’ll send it to the Director of Public Prosecutions and then we’ll have her decide which way the police will go in that investigation.”
