Flowers Family Says His Murder Not Gang Related

The issue of gang involvement was raised yet again, despite Flowers’ mother vehemently denying any affiliation between her son and any of the various rival groups in Belize City.

Sr. Supt. Edward Broaster, Commander, Rural Eastern Division

“Like I said yesterday, Lennox Flowers is an associate of Ghost Town Crips.  There was a separate incident involving the two gangs that I mentioned, not directly attributed to what transpired with the murder but there are other information that are coming to us.  Like what Mr. Cocom said, we are continuing to investigate the matter and if we get evidence to incriminate other individuals then charges will be laid against others.”

Insp. Juanito Cocom, O.C., Ladyville Police

“As I previously said, this case has not been closed yet.  The investigation is continuous.”

“Sir, the individual who has in fact been charged, to which gang is he associated?”

“The individual who has been charged, we do not know if he is associated with any gang.  We know that he is related to the female in question.”

“So to clarify then this particular incident, you’re not getting any indication that it was gang related but rather specifically over a female, over women issues.”

Sr. Supt. Edward Broaster

“The incident, like we said so far, is pointing towards, over a female, yes.  Like I said, there was a scuffle involving the two groups that I mentioned yesterday.  And I want to emphasize as well because people out there are getting the wrong impression that the murder took place at the horserace and the murder did not take place at or during the horserace.  It took place after the horserace, at the after bash, alright.  So it had nothing to do with the horserace.”

Cecil Ramirez is the son of late police Sergeant Kimari Tucker, who passed away in March 2014, after collapsing at a local concert in Belize City.  Police investigations continue.
