National Transport wants its route back

Story PictureThe Transport Department put an abrupt end to a premier bus run that National Transport implemented on June twenty-fourth. The following day transport officers removed passengers from the seven o’clock express bus. Candelaria Saldivar, the Transport Commissioner, said that the company’s permit was for regular runs, and if the company wanted an express run it would have to apply for the necessary road permit. The director of National Transport, David Novelo, said that on July first, their legal advisor wrote to the Transport Commissioner to reactivate the express run.

David Novelo, Director, National Transport Limited
“Provisions have been made by the department of transport for multiple operators from countrywide assisting them in providing express runs. In addition, if you all may recall going back to October the nineteenth, the Minister of Transport himself had dictated that when they issue a block for a specific bus company, they had the ability to run as much buses as they wanted within their area.”

“He did not specify whether they would be regular or express…”

David Novelo
“Well it was specified at a press conference on Racoon Street where—because you know Colonel Lovell had made that remark on whether if its express or regular. So what we did was that we followed protocol and we wrote to the commissioner of transport and we said look we intend to enhance our product that we deliver because people have been requesting for it. I am sure that if the Commissioner of Transport, Miss Candelaria, will take our offer and sit down, I’m sure that this can be resolved in such a quick process that we could be back on the road and provide the quality and much needed service. And I would like to extend that invitation to them.”

Jose Sanchez
“She did say you need to apply for the permit. Have you done so?”

David Novelo
“We have sent in written to her in terms of—we have made our attorney write her in terms of reiterating what was the last court ruling in terms of the case that is pending. We have written to her in terms of our desire to provide that service and that’s what we have done with Miss Candelaria.”
